Mr. C.R. Steyn the founder of Makarios Chemicals has vast experience in the field of chemical production which started with Richem in Richards Bay in 1980. Richem was started as a chemical manufacturing facility and supplied South African Fine Industrial Chemicals (SAFIC) in the early start-up days of the company. SAFIC grew to the point where local production made sense and Mr. Steyn was the technical director that initiated these projects and production lines. In 2000, Mr. Steyn started an affiliate company in Botswana, BOTFIC, which later translated in a transition to Kairos industrial Chemicals. BOTFIC focused more on hair products, while Kairos focused on “fine industrial chemicals”. Kairos Industrial was registered in March 2001 and started trading in the same month. The company provides products in different categories namely: disinfectant chemicals, household chemicals, industrial chemicals and other specialized chemicals. Kairos industrial Chemicals is still active and a vibrant company that serves the Botswana economy. Mr. Steyn returning to his South African roots has now settled in George. The Steyn family wanting to continue with their legacy has now started a new company called Makarios Chemicals. Makarios Chemicals will continue its already established drive with absolute honesty and integrity and build a market leading brand in the South African.
